Ras pathway specificity is determined by the integration of multiple signal-activated and tissue-restricted transcription factors

Article Abstract:

Cell fate specification in the somatic mesoderm of the Drosophila embryo has been studied as a model for looking at the molecular basis of combinatorial signaling involving receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). Ras pathway specificity has been found to be determined by integration of multiple signal-activated and tissue-restricted transcription factors. Wingless (Wg) and Decapentaplegic (Dpp) bestow competence for RTK-mediated induction of the subset of Drosophila cardiac and muscle progenitors by working in parallel to and in upstream of Ras.

Excitation at the synapse: eph receptors team up with NMDA receptors

Article Abstract:

This review dwells on the recent findings on the role of Eph receptors in synapse formation. Data indicate that Eph receptor activation precedes the formation of Eph/N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor clusters, which eventually leads to an increased synapse formation.

Homer binds TRPC family channels and is required for gating of TRPC1 by IP(sub)3 receptors

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that the response of TRP channel to signals is dependent on the physical association between TRPC1 and the calcium channel IP(sub)3R, facilitated by the adaptor protein termed Homer. Data show that disassembly of the TRPC1-Homer-calcium channel complex is analogous to TRPC1 activation.
