Replication-dependent marking of DNA by PCNA facilitates CAF-1-coupled inheritance of chromatin

Article Abstract:

Chromatin assembly factor 1 (CAF-1) is needed for inheritance of epigenetically determined chromosomal states in vivo and encourages the assembly of chromatin during DNA replication in vitro. It was observed that after replication, replicated DNA is also competent for CAF-1-dependent chromatin assembly. The proliferating cell nuclear antigen, a DNA polymerase clamp, is a part of the replication-dependent marking of DNA for chromatin assembly.

BRU1, a novel link between responses to DNA damage and epigenetic gene silencing in Arabidopsis

Article Abstract:

An experiment is carried out, by isolating and characterizing mutations in BRU1 gene of Arabidopsis, to determine that DNA repair is associated with DNA replication to conserve the genomic sequence. The findings suggest that BRU1 protein, involved in structural and functional stabilization of chromatin, is a molecular link between genetic and epigenetic information and the control of development.

FASCIATA genes for chromatin assembly factor-1 in Arabidopsis maintain the cellular organization of apical meristems

Article Abstract:

Research shows that FASCIATA1 and FASCIATA2 genes maintain cellular and functional organization of the shoot and root apical meristems in Arabidopsis. Data indicate that the FASCIATA gene products are analogous to chromatin assembly factor-1, which helps maintain stability of gene expression status during the apical meristems postembryonic development.
