Repressor mutant forms of the Azospirillum brasilense NtrC protein

Article Abstract:

The role of NtrC in Azospirillum brasilense is better understood by isolating and sequencing the ntrC genes of strains FP8 and FP9 and identifying two unique mutations, which produced repressor NtrC mutant proteins. The results of the study support the view that G240D and G238E mutations in the NtrC protein of A. brasilense strains FP9 and FP8, respectively, produced a strong transcription repressor protein responsible for the null Nif and nitrate growth phenotypes of these strains.

Effects of iron limitation on adherence and cell surface carbohydrates of corynebacterium diphtheriae strains

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that the effects of iron concentration on adhesive properties of the cell surface proteins and sugar residues are different for two strains of Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Data indicate that a nonfimbrial protein is involved in the hemagglutination of diphtheria bacilli, suggesting that iron-limited conditions exert a regulatory role on adhesive properties.

Fnr is involved in oxygen control of Herbaspirillum seropedicae N-truncated NifA protein activity in Escherichaia coli

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that in Escherichia coli fnr gene background , NifA protein of Herbaspirillum seropedicae is inactive and undergoes degradation due to oxygen exposure and iron depletion, indicating that Fnr protein is involved in the oxygen sensitivity and iron requirement of NifA protein.
