Rhodobacter capsulatus gains a competitive advantage from respiratory nitrate reduction during light-dark transitions

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Rhodobacter capsulatus N22DNAR (super)+ possessing periplasmic nitrate reductase. The authors have investigated the role of nitrate reduction in R. capsulatus growth during light-dark cycles in carbon-limited continuous cultures.

Transmissible Burkholderia cepacia genomovar IIIa strains bind and convert monomeric iron(III) protoporphyrin IX into the mu-oxo oligomeric form

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Burkholderia cepacia which isolates genomovar III. Results demonstrate that B. cepacia genomovar IIIa strains express outer-membrane proteins which bind and convert monomers into mu-oxo oligomeric form.

Inactivation of mshB, a key gene in the mycothiol biosynthesis pathway in Mycobacterium smegmatis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on mshB gene, the key enzyme in mycothiol biosynthesis. Results demonstrate that the disruption of this gene in Mycobacterium smegmatis has led to mycothiol production decrease.
