Importance of pfkA for rapid growth of Enterobacter cloacae during colonization of crop seeds

Article Abstract:

The pfkA gene of Enterobacter cloacae appears to be necessary to the growth of the bacterium on plant roots. This bacterium colonizes plant roots, using nutrients released by the plants and promoting plant growth in return.

Population genetics of the nomenspecies Enterobacter cloacae

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on nomenspecies Enterobacter cloacae. The authors have investigated the genetic structure of E. cloacae and the phylogenetic relationships between E. cloacae genetic groups and related species.

Role of pfkA and general carbohydrate catabolism in seed colonization by Enterobacter cloacae

Article Abstract:

Enterobacter cloacae A-11 is a transposon mutant of strain 501R3 that was deficient in cucumber spermosphere colonization and in the utilization of certain carbohydrates. Colonization by strain A-11 was significantly reduced for cucumber and radish seeds compared to that of strain 501R3, but colonization of pea, soybean, sunflower and sweet corn seeds was not reduced. Exogenous addition of fructose to cucumber and radish seeds increased the populations of strain A-11 to levels comparable to those of strain 501R3 in sterile sand.
