Developmental control of endocytosis in dendritic cells by Cdc42

Article Abstract:

Results show that dendritic cells when blocked for the GTPase-related Cdc42 activity by Toxin B or inhibitors, abolishes endocytic process involved in antigen uptake. Data also reveal that endocytosis is regulated by the dendritic cells by controlling the active Cdc42.

Quantitative and dynamic assessment of the contribution of the ER to phagosome formation

Article Abstract:

A combination of biochemical, fluorescence imaging and electron microscopy techniques are used to quantitatively and dynamically assess the contribution of the plasmalemma and of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to phagosome formation and maturation. The plasma membrane is the main constituent of nascent and newly formed phagosomes, which are progressively remodeled by fusion with endosomal and eventually lysosomal compartments as phagosomes mature into acidic, degradative organelles.

S. typhimurium encodes an activator of Rho GTPases that induces membrane ruffling and nuclear responses in host cells

Article Abstract:

The stimulation of signaling pathways by the Salmonella typhimurium (S typhimurium) resulted to membrane ruffling, actin cytoskeleton rearrangements and nuclear responses. The stimulation of these signaling pathways involves a protein secretion system which can transfer bacterial proteins into the host cells. In the S typhimurium's protein secretion system, the substrate SopE can stimulate cytoskeletal reorganization and JNK activation in the small molecular weight GTP-binding proteins.
