S434F in NrdE generates the thermosensitive phenotype of Corynebacterium ammoniagenes CH31 and enhances thermolability by increasing the surface hydrophobicity of the NrdE(Ts) protein

Article Abstract:

The thermosensitive phentotype of strain CH31, a derivative of Corynebacterium ammoniagenes ATCC 6872, was allocated by cloning, sequencing, and genetic complementation to a single C->T exchange in the NrdE (nucleotide reduction) gene at nucleotide 1301. Protein modeling indicates the impaired surface hydrophobicity of NrdE(Ts) due to the S434F function.

Phosphate starvation-inducible gene ushA encodes a 5' nucleotidase required for growth of Corynebacterium glutamicum on media with nucleotides as the phosphorus source

Article Abstract:

The ushA protein of Corynebacterium glutamicum and ushA gene expression was characterized and the physiological role of ushA in this bacterium was determined. It was suggested that C. glutamicum ushA is an important component of the phosphate starvation response and is necessary to access nucleotides and related compounds as sources of phosphorus.

Characterization of a Corynebacterium glutamicum lactate utilization operon induced during temperature-triggered glutamate production

Article Abstract:

Gene expression of glutamate-producing Corynebacterium was identified in transcriptome comparison by DNA microarray analysis. The reverse transcription-PCR analysis showed that the two genes NCg12812 and NCg12817 together constitute an operon.
