Screening, nucleotide sequence, and biochemical characterization of an esterase from Pseudomonas fluorescens with high activity towards lactones

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the screening, cloning, sequencing and biochemical characterization of a new Pseudomonas fluorescens esterase with high activity towards lactones. Results indicate that despite high activity towards delta-valerolactone, EstF1 is not part of cyclopentanone degradation pathway in P. fluorescens DSM 50106. However, EstF1 presents a useful alternative biocatalyst for the synthesis of omega-hydroxy acids and for specific hydrolysis of lactones.

Identification of acyl-homoserine lactone signal molecules produced by Nitrosomonas europaea strain Schmidt

Article Abstract:

Nitrosomonas europaea strain Schmidt produces acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) was determined and identified the types and levels of these molecules. It shows that while the amounts of AHL produced by chemolithotrophically grown ammonia-oxidizing bacteria are low, they are sufficient to affect the organisms' physiology.

Use of Sinorhizobium meliloti as an indicator for specific detection of long-chain N-Acyl homoserine lactones

Article Abstract:

Sinorhizobium meliloti is a gram negative soil bacteria and harbors three different quorum sensing systems. Most of the quorum sensing systems used so far occur in bacteria which can establish relationship with plant or animal hosts.
