Solution structure of the methyl-CpG binding domain of human MBD1 in complex with methylated DNA

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the biological consequences of DNA methylation mediated by the protein factors containing conserved methyl-CpG binding domains (MBDs). The solution structure of the MBD of the human methylation-dependent transcriptional regulator MBD1 bound to the methylated DNA has been investigated and the results indicate that DNA binding causes the MBD1 loop to fold.

Nucleosome sliding via TBP DNA binding in vivo

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the nucleosome obstructing transcription from the IFN-beta promoter. The mechanisms and the nature of the chromatin that remodels during IFN-beta gene activation in response to the virus infection have been investigated and the results indicate that this nucleosome slides in vivo exposing the initiation site.

Structural analyses of DNA recognition by the AML1/Runx-1 Runt domain and its allosteric control by CBF(beta)

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the core binding factor heterodimeric transcription factors. The crystal structures of the DNA AML1/Runx-1 Runt complexes have been investigated and the effect of the point mutations of CBF(alpha) related to the acute leukemias and cleidocranial dysplasia on DNA binding has been discussed.
