Distribution of archaea in a black smoker chimney structure

Article Abstract:

A black smoker chimney taken from the Manus Basin near Papua New Guinea contained mostly hyperthermophiles and extreme halophiles. The distribution of these bacteria varied depending on the microhabitat in which they were found.

Spatial distribution of marine crenarchaeto group I in the vicinity of deep-sea hydrothermal systems

Article Abstract:

Culture-independent molecular techniques were used for mapping and characterizing the spatial distribution of marine crenarchaeto group I in the vicinity of deep-sea hydrothermal systems. A diversity of genes and genomic structure within the marine crenarchaeto group I have been revealed.

Microbial community in black rust exposed to hot ridge flank crustal fluids

Article Abstract:

The microbial community in the black rust from a circulation obviation retrofit kit (CORK) observatory was investigated by using both culture-dependent and independent methods to understand the microbial ecosystem within ridge flank. It provided important insights into the phylogenetic, physiological and trophic characteristics of subseafloor microbial ecosystems in warm dridge flank crusts.
