Statistical analysis of crossover interference using the chi-square model

Article Abstract:

The chi-square model, consisting of integer shape parameters, is used for the derivation of the tetrad joint or single pore recombination pattern. The chi-square model is conventionally applied to investigate the occurrence of crossovers along a chromosome. The conventional model has no biological basis but only mathematical expressions. The application of the model to the derivation of the tetrad joint recombination provides a biological perspective to the derivation, which also consists of mathematical expressions.

Modeling interference in genetic recombination

Article Abstract:

A new method is developed for the analysis of genetic linkage data. Conventional methods assume that the crossover location of the links along the chromosomes obey the Poisson process. The presence of chromatid interference in the crossover reveals that the Poisson process need not be followed by location of the crossovers. The method does not assume that the Poisson process is followed by the crossover location. This provides accurate results when the genetic data are analyzed.

Statistical analysis of chromatid interference

Article Abstract:

Chromatid interference or crossover interference or both can cause the sequential occurrence of crossovers in a single DNA strand during meiosis. The chromatid interference process consists of large number of constraints for single spores. The constraints are prominent when the chromatid interference does not occur during necrosis. The constraints include negative chromatid interference.
