F(sub.1) hybrid inviability in Eucalyptus: the case of E. ovata x E. globulus

Article Abstract:

F(sub.1) hybrid inviability in Eucalyptus has been studied relative to E. ovata x E. globulus. Lower fitness in the pure species through inbreeding may be the reason that hybridization has the most evolutionary impact in small founder or relict populations.

Strong, independent, quantitative genetic control of the timing of vegetative phase change and first flowering in Eucalyptus globulus ssp. globulus (Tasmanian Blue Gum)

Article Abstract:

Timing of vegetative phase change and first flowering in Eucalyptus globulus ssp. globulus (Tasmanian Blue Gum) is discussed. The quantitative genetic control of the timing has been found to be both strong and independent. The taxon has an abrupt change in leaf form independent of times of first flowering.
