Studies of synaptonemal complexes in farm mammals - a review

Article Abstract:

The results of several studies on synaptonemal complexes in animals were analyzed. Studies on pericentric inversions, aneuploidy and chromosomal polymorphisms were also examined. Findings showed a range of synaptic behavior in spermatocytes with the same type of chromosomal abnormality. There were also variations for centric fusion translocations in both humans and farm animals. In addition, the synaptonemal complex analysis was found to be very effective in analyzing causes of altered fertility in carriers of abnormal chromosome complement.

DogMap: an international collaboration toward a low-resolution canine genetic marker map

Article Abstract:

DogMap is an international association of 42 laboratories from 20 different nations working towards the development of a canine genetic marker map with 20 cM intervals and physically anchored linkage groups. It has created a group of reference families for genetic mapping purposes utilizing various types of technologies. The association is planning to collaborate with its competitors to generate a map at the soonest time possible.

Comparison of the human and canine cytokines IL-I([alpha]/[beta]) and TNF-[alpha] to orthologous other mammalians

Article Abstract:

The detailed analysis of the mRNA and protein structures carried out to identify TNF-[alpha], IL-1[alpha], and IL-1[beta] mRNAs and proteins among known mammalians such as human, canine, murine, and rat is presented.
