Haplotype and allele frequencies for three genes of the dopaminergic system in South American Indians

Article Abstract:

Research is presented on the frequencies of genetic receptors in five Brazilian Indian tribes. Results of this research are compared with previous results; genetic receptors were found to be highly polymorphic while geographic dichotomy is shown between Indians of South America and those of North and Central America, with the exception of the Wai Wai of the Amazon.

T-cell and chemokine receptor variation in South Amerindian populations

Article Abstract:

Ninetynine individuals from two Brazilian native populations were tested for two T-cell receptor gene segments and 241 subjects from eight tribes of this ethnic group were tested for chemokine receptor. The study confirmed the absence of the chemokine receptor allele in most groups, its presence in the Mura and Kaingang, probably due to European gene introgression.

Historical genetics: spatiotemporal analysis of the formation of the Brazilian population

Article Abstract:

Total of 1,037 individuals residing in five different sociogeographic regions of Brazil were surveyed in relation to 12 short tandem repeat (STR) polymorphisms. The aim of the survey was to understand the history, demography, and evolution of human population.
