Tel/Etv6 is an essential and selective regulator of adult hematopoietic stem cell survival

Article Abstract:

The Ets-related transcription factor Tel/Etv6, the product of a locus frequently involved in translocation in leukemia, a selective regulator of HSC survival is studied. Tel/Etv6 is a selective and essential regulator of postembryonic HSCs and the absence of Tel/Etv6after lineage commitment is ostensibly without consequence except for unexpected impairment of maturation of megakaryocytes

Proplatelet formation of megakaryocytes is triggered by autocrine-synthesized estradiol

Article Abstract:

The megakaryocyte/erythrocyte-specific transcription factor, p45 NF-E2, is essential for initiating proplatelet formation (PPF). The estradiol synthesized in megakaryocytes that triggers PPF is reported. It is concluded that autocrine estradiol action regulates platelet production by triggering PPF.
