The HIR corepressor complex bids to nucleosomes generating a distinct protein/DNA complex resistant to remodeling by SWI/SNF

Article Abstract:

The histone regulatory (HIR) and histone promoter control (HPC) repressor proteins regulate three histone gene loci during the 'Saccharomyces cerevisiae' cell cycle, and it is demonstrated that Hir1, Hir2, Hir3 and Hpc2 proteins form a stable HIR repressor complex. It is found that the HIR complex is a novel nucleoside assembly complex, which functions with SWI/SNF to regulate transcription.

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae histone H2A variant Htz1 is acetylated by NuA4

Article Abstract:

The histone H2A varient H2A.Z (Saccharomyces cerevisiae Htz1) plays roles in transcription, DNA repair, chromosome stability, and limiting telomeric silencing and the Swrl-Complex (SWR-C) inserts Htzl1 into chromatin. It is observed that NuA4 acetylates Htz1 Lys 14 (K14) after the histone is assembled into chromatin by SWR-C.
