The ascendancy of developmental genetics, or how the T complex educated a generation of developmental biologists

Article Abstract:

Developmental biologist Salome Gluecksohn-Waelsch was one of the earliest who investigated the T complex, or tailless phenotypes resulting from the interaction of T (Brachyury) with t alleles. Her article on the subject helped in the development of concepts of genes as interrelated functional units, instead of independently acting units. It also led to the discovery of a novel gene family with many developmental genes, which attempted to explain the intricacies of the T complex.

Analysis of DNA diversity by spatial autocorrelation

Article Abstract:

Spatial autocorrelation statistics have been developed for explaining molecular data involving DNA diversity. The autocorrelation measures are applicable to RFLP and sequence data and generate correlograms, which the level of DNA sequence or haplotype similarity with selected spatial distances. The statistics are proven useful in generating objective haplotype indicators.
