The breeding system and population structure of the termite Reticulitermes grassei in Southwestern France

Article Abstract:

The colony and population structure in three French populations was assessed of the termite Retuculitermes grassei using eight polymorphic microsatellite loci is discussed. The absence of the form of colony reproduction even within populations where it is expected to be common suggested that the propensity for colony budding may not be as common as suggested by the literature.

Testing the hypothesis of recent population expansions in nematode parasites of human-associated hosts

Article Abstract:

Parasites of human-associated organisms are more likely to show rapid recent population expansions than are parasites of other hosts. The generality of this demographic prediction for species of parasitic nematodes that currently have mitochondrial sequence data available in the literature or the public-access genetic databases is tested.

Adjusting multiple testing in multilocus analyses using the eigenvalues of a correlation matrix

Article Abstract:

Correlated multiple testing is widely performed in genetic research, particularly in multilocus analyses of complex diseases. Failure to control appropriately for the effect of multiple testing will either result in flood of false-positive claims or in true hits being overlooked.
