How phosphotransferase system-related protein phosphporylation regulates carbohydrate metabolism in bacteria

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms that guide the carbohydrate phosphotransferse system (PTS), which controls carbohydrate metabolism by catalyzing the transport of several polysaccharides, polyols and other sugar derivatives, are discussed. Findings have shown that PTS regulation network, apart from controlling the metabolism, also interferes with the utilization of nitrogen and phosphorus and the virulence of certain pathogens.

Initiation of protein synthesis in bacteria

Article Abstract:

A detailed description of current knowledge about the structure, function, and interactions of the individual components involved in bacterial translation initiation is presented. An overview of mechanisms of regulation of the translation initiation event is provided.
