The effect of linkage disequilibrium and deviation from Hardy-Weinberg proportions on the changes in genetic variance with bottlenecking

Article Abstract:

A study of the effect of deviation from Hardy-Weinberg proportions (DHW) and of disequilibrium on changes in genetic variation with bottlenecking has been carried out. Linkage disequilibrium is another factor. DHW may cause an increase in the additive variance for rare recessive genes. The greatest increase comes with completely recessive genes with low initial frequency in populations of intermediate size.

Review article: development in predicting the effective size of subdivided populations

Article Abstract:

Developments in predicting effective sizes of populations subdivided under an assortment of models are reviewed. Extensions are appended in some cases and derivations are given for some simple models. Relationships among the given equations and equations for one unsubdivided population are covered. Effects of population subdivision on neutral genetic variation and implications are discussed.

Accumulation of deleterious mutations and equalization of parental contributions in the conservation of genetic resources

Article Abstract:

Deleterious mutations and their accumulation are discussed with consideration of equalization of parental contributions in conservation of genetic resources. Stochastic computer simulations we used to look at the effect of the factors considered on the accumulation of deleterious mutations in a population under equalization of parental contributions.
