RNA interference is mediated by 21- and 22-nucleotide RNAs

Article Abstract:

RNA interference (RNAi) has been found to be mediated by 21- and 22-nucleotide RNAs by study in a Drosophila in vitro system. The RNAs are sequence-specific mediators of RNAi, with the short interfering RNAs generated by an RNase III-like processing reaction from long double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). Likely the direction of dsRNA processing determines whether the siRNA-protein complex can cleave sense or antisense target RNA.

The neuron-specific RNA-binding protein ELAV regulates neuroglian alternative splicing in neurons and binds directly to its pre-mRNA

Article Abstract:

ELAV, the neuron-specific RNA-binding protein, has been found to regulate neuroglian alternative splicing in neurons, binding directly to its pre-mRNA. It is shown, using a minigene reporter, that the nrg transcript involves alternative inclusion of a 3'-terminal exon.

Tousled-like kinase functions with the chromatin assembly pathway regulating nuclear divisions

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on tousled-like kinases which phosphorylate the antisilencing function protein 1 involved in replication-dependent chromatin assembly. The authors have demonstrated that Drosophila antisilencing function protein is tousled-like kinases' phosphorylation target.
