The role of sexual and asexual reproduction in structuring high latitude populations of the reef coral pocillopora damicornis

Article Abstract:

The genotypic diversity of adult and juvenile colonies of P.damicornis at seven sites on eastern AustraliaEs high latitude is compared in order to determine whether levels of clonality vary with habitat heterogeneity and age of colonies. The conclusion states that the genetic structure of P.damicornis at Lord Howel Island reflects populations that are maintained through localized recruitment of sexually produced larvae.

Distribution of genetic diversity among disjunct populations of the rare forest understory herb, Trillium reliquum

Article Abstract:

The genetic diversity and its distribution are studied among disjunct populations of the rare southeastern American forest understory species, Trillium reliquum. The findings reveal that there is no significant inbreeding and the population size and genetic diversity are independent of each other which is due to self-incompatibility of the species, its longevity and clonal reproduction.

Gene flow among established Puerto Rican populations of the exotic tree species, Albizia lebbeck

Article Abstract:

Gene flow and patterns of genetic diversity is estimated in Albizia lebbeck, an invasive leguminous tree in the dry forest of southwestern Puerto Rico. The presence of unique genotypes in the northernmost populations suggests that northern genotypes are still immigrating into the area.
