The task of keeping elephants

Article Abstract:

Elephant numbers in Kruger National Park in South Africa as well as across Southern Africa are steadily growing since the past few years and reinstatement of the earlier practice of culling was suggested as one of the methods to control the growing population. A large majority of scientific opinion, opposed to culling, seems to favor development of megaparks that transcend national borders and linking of existing park, allowing elephants to distribute more naturally.

Are solitary and gregarious Mormon crickets (Anabrus simplex, Orthopetra, Tettigoniidae) genetically distinct?

Article Abstract:

Mormon crickets occur in two phases that differ in morphology and behavior. The extent of genetic differences between solitary and gregarious populations of the widespread North American species of Mormon crickets is investigated. Two mitochondrial genes, COII and COIII, in samples of Mormon crickets from gregarious population west of the continental divide and solitary mountain populations primarily east of the divide.
