The thermologa maritima phenotype is impacted by syntrophic interaction with Methanococcus jannaschii in hyperthermopholic coculture

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the transcriptome of the hyperthermophilic bacterium Thermologa maritima when it was cocultured with the hyperthermophilic archaeon Methanococcus jannaschii. It was observed that the transcriptome of heterotrophs in methanogenic coculture is a result of the impact of syntrophic interactions, which should be considered in examining the microbial ecology in anaerobic environments.

Identification of anaerobic selenate-respiring bacteria from aquatic sediments

Article Abstract:

The isolation and characterization of various anaerobic dissimilatory selenate-respiring bacteria from a variety of sources, including the aquatic sediments are being presented. The results prove that under similar conditions, the enrichment cultures from different sediments always give entirely different populations of selenate-respiring bacteria.

Persistence and growth of fecal Bacteroidales assessed by bromodeoxyuridine immunocapture

Article Abstract:

A description is provided on the results of a study in which the bromodeoxyuridine immunocapture method was used to monitor the growth of Bacteroidales organisms in sewage. Using 30 PCR cycles with unlabeled fractions, human-specific Bacteroidales sequences were detected and they persisted for up to 24 h in sewage.
