Tomoregulin-1 (TMEFF1) inhibits nodal signaling through direct binding to the nodal coreceptor Cripto

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on transmembrane protein tomoregulin-1 which inhibits nodal signaling in Xenopus embryos. The authors have demonstrated that this protein binds to the nodal coreceptor Cripto, and that nodal signaling can be modulated at the membrane by nonreceptor transmembrane protein tomoregulin-1.

MAX4 amd RMS1 are orthologous dioxygenase-like genes that regulate shoot branching in Arabidopsis and pea

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on bud growth regulation in Arabidopsis. The authors describe the identification of the genes responsible for this growth carried out via screening of mutagenized populations for plants with increased branching and identification of loci at which mutations lead to axillary growth.

Skewing X chromosome choice by modulating sense transcription across the Xist locus

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Xist locus. The authors have investigated the target mutations at the end of this locus, and have discovered that these mutations cause preferential inactivation of the X chromosome containing targeted allele in XX heterozygotes.
