Two splice variants of the Wilms' tumor 1 gene have distinct functions during sex determination and nephron formation

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the alternative splicing of the Wt1 which results in the amino acid insertion or omission between zinc fingers. Results demonstrate the functions for the splice variants and indicate the importance of the +KTS variants in regulating Sry in the sex determination pathway.

Loss of the CIC-7-chloride channel leads to osteopetrosis in mice and man

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the CIC-7-chloride channel which plays an important role in plasma membranes. Results indicate that this channel provides chloride conductance required for the efficient proton pumping by the H (super)+ -ATPase of the osteoclast ruffled membrane.

HIV-1 genome nuclear import is mediated by a central DNA flap

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the HIV-1 reverse transcription that creates the central DNA flap. Results indicate that the central DNA flap acts as an HIV-1 DNA nuclear import cis-determinant.
