Vascular endothelial growth factor controls neuronal migration and cooperates with Sema3A to pattern distinct compartments of the facial nerve

Article Abstract:

A collection of genetically engineered mouse mutants is used to demonstrate that the behavior of somata and axons of the facial nerve is regulated independently by two secreted ligands for the transmembrane receptor neuropilin 1 (Nrp1), the semaphorin Sema3A and the VEGF164 isoform of Vascular Endothelial Growth factor. VEGF contributes to neuronal patterning in vivo, and that different compartments of one cell can be co-ordinately patterned by structurally distinct ligands for a shared receptor.

Placental cell fates are regulated in vivo by HIF-mediated hypoxial responses

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that hypoxia-inducible factor-1 activates the genes involved in the regulation of the physiological responses of the mammalian placentation to oxygen deprivation. Data suggest that hypoxia promotes differentiation of trophoblast stem cells to spongiotrophoblasts instead of giant cells.

Multilineage embryonic hematopoiesis requires hypoxic ARNT activity

Article Abstract:

The article focuses on regulation of enbryonic multilineage hematopoietic progenitors proliferation by a hypoxia-mediated signaling pathway and examines low hypoxia associated with pathology. The therapeutic relevance of the research is examined.
