c-Abl is activated by growth factors and Src family kinases and has a role in the cellular response to PDGF

Article Abstract:

The tyrosine kinase c-Abl, activated by growth factors and Src family kinases, has a role in the cellular response to platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). A membrane pool of c-Abl has been activated by PDGF and another growth factor, epidermal growth factor, EGF, in fibroblasts. Data show c-Abl to be a downstream target of activated receptor tyrosine kinases, to have a role in cytoskeletal reorganization after PDGF stimulation.

The stringent response in Myxococcus xanthus is regulated by SocE and the CsgA C-signaling protein

Article Abstract:

Researchers placed socE, a regulator of fruiting body development in Myxococcus xanthus under control of a light-inducible promoter and found that for M. xanthus the stringent response is regulated by SocE and the CsgA C-signaling protein. It appears that CsgA maintains growth arrest through all of development to divert carbon from A-signaling and other sources into developmental macromolecular synthesis.

CREating a SCAP-less liver keeps SREBPs pinned in the ER membrane and prevents increased lipid synthesis in response to low cholesterol and high insulin

Article Abstract:

A brief overview of the sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) pathway is given with information on SCAP in this perspective article. SREBP cleavage activation protein (SCAP), regulated by sterols, escorts SREBPs from one cellular compartment to another.
