mTOR-dependent activation of the transcription factor TIF-IA links rRNA synthesis to nutrient availability

Article Abstract:

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) that regulates Po1 I transcription by modulating the activity of TIF-IA is presented. A new target for mTOR-signaling pathways is identified and the molecular mechanism underlying mTOR-dependent regulation of rRNA synthesis is elucidated.

What determines whether mammalian ribosomes resume scanning after translation of a short upstream open reading frame?

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to test the resumption of scanning of a short open reading frame. The results of the study suggest that resumption may depend on the interaction between eIF4F and the ribosome being maintained while the ribosome translates the sORF.

The mechanism of an exceptional case of reinitiation after translation of a long ORF reveals why such events do not generally occur in mammalian mRNA translation

Article Abstract:

A study of the unusual event of reinitiation after translation of a long ORF is conducted to explain the non-occurrence of such cases in mammalian mRNA translation.
