3, 2, 1 ... product lift-off

Article Abstract:

Successful product launches support the organizational goals of a business such as revenue/profit growth, increased market share, or shortened time-to-market cycles. Launching a new product involves the entire enterprise at some point during the launch process, and it is at this period that coordination between the company's business units becomes critical. The use of project management techniques can make for successful launches, as seen in ABT Corp's introduction of a new software product.

Article Abstract:

Longer-term objectives are most of the time destroyed by decisions based on short-term considerations. Daily decisions caused by pressures in organizational meetings neglect two important long-term goals, namely, quality product and customer focus. Teaming and empowerment are both essential in the successful completion of a project in which all the team members will benefit.
