Article Abstract:

A personal narrative of an compulsive gambler who is an Australian businessman is presented. The businessman began frequenting a casino, and while he won occasionally, he began suffering major losses, probably in excess of A$60,000, as he was trying to win back his losses. His personal relationships suffered, and his career suffered as he could not concentrate on business. He still intends to gamble to win back what he lost.

Ausmelt needs time and money

Article Abstract:

Ausmelt's core technology of a high temperature smelting process was developed in the 1970s. The share price of the company has had its ups and downs, there have been major changes in senior management and money has not been forthcoming although negotiations are underway for $2 million. If Ausmelt technology becomes the preferred technology in its various applications there will be additional revenues.

New guns take aim at the commercial leasing system

Independent Property Services, a subsidiary of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, is headed by Mark McGrath, who frequently criticizes Australia's commercial leasing system. He believes, for instance, that available floor space should be usable space rather than net lettable area. Executives of the Property Council of Australia have no plans to change their measurement standards.
