A helping hand for small exporters on the grow

Article Abstract:

An Australian government program, Export Access, is assisting businesses with launching their products overseas. The program, which costs $500 to join, offers market development grants, promotional activities, and the use of marketing consultants. Since 1991, Export Access has helped to generate more than $270 million in exports. The program is limited to companies with revenue between $300,000 and $20 million a year that have had exports of less than $1 million in the previous year.

Article Abstract:

The Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement reaffirms an already close relationship between the two nations. Australia will benefit from associating with a dynamic economy and may receive more attention from investors. However, the government should rethink its promotion of Australia as an Asian regional operations hub for businesses.

Retrirees and the bush to get help

Issues are presented concerning the provisions for retirees which are expected in the 2001 federal budget. The importance of the budget to the reelection prospects of the government is discussed.
