Corporate policies for employee family needs have increased. A joint study by The Bureau of National Affairs and HRNews showed that 80% of respondent companies have instituted family-friendly programs. The most common of the offered policies were paid disability, 61% , and post-natal leaves, 58%. Flexible workdays were also offered to employees, as well as employee assistance or counseling programs.

The 401(k) retirement plan is a viable alternative to post-retirement financing due to its flexibility and cost effectiveness. The plan allows employees to select their contribution amounts, and employers to determine their matching contribution levels. The plan also provides for deferred tax payment.
