ACNielsen TV ratings show canned after 40-year run

Article Abstract:

Australia's three commercial television networks announced on September 30, 1999, a $90 million metropolitan television audience measurement contract to AGB Australia. ACNielsen, which has conducted television ratings since 1959, retains the regional TV contract until December 2002. Industry sources claim that AGB has a more complete package than its competitors. AGB will also provide the networks with more flexibility regarding the use of ratings data.
