Article Abstract:
Alternative weekly newspapers are gaining prospertiy in the newspaper publishing industry today. The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, which consists of 199 members, reoported a gain in circulation between 1992 and 1996 from almost 4.4 million to nearly 6.4 million, and their weeklies' advertising revenue almost doubled to $345 million.
