Article Abstract:

The Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Australian Society of CPAs did not merge in Dec 1998 as planned. The associations have planned to merge four separate times between 1970 and 1998 but the associations' membership have not wanted the merger. Criticisms of the future of the Institute of Chartered Accountants have come from members who wanted the merger.

Andersen ready to try again; after the divorce, the accounting firm has been spending on a new consulting division, hoping for better luck the second time around

Article Abstract:

Arthur Andersen has opened a new consulting firm, Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, after it severed its ties with Andersen Consulting. The company had to reestablish its consulting practice because as soon as it could because of the value of this work to its financial well being.
