Active trust development of local senior managers in international subsidiaries

Article Abstract:

A study based on the theory of active trust development was conducted on the extent to which localization, communications, and control built the trust of local senior managers in international joint ventures (IJVs) particularly in uncertain environments. A survey of IJVs in China revealed that while the three strategies do develop local managers' trust in overseas headquarters, a localization strategy combined with intense control hindered the development of such trust.

Management for change: on strategic change during recession

Article Abstract:

Successful implementation of strategic management and change during crisis or recession involves consideration of two major factors. First, consideration should be made on the nature of strategic situation at the early part of the recession. Second, on the communication between the objective and subjective aspects of the space for action. Identified as vital to space for action are strategic actors' experiences and decision-making capabilities.

Japanese managerial behavior in strategic planning: case analyses in global business contexts

Article Abstract:

A unique characteristic of Japanese companies, which can be different from that of western firms, is that they have similar managerial behavior with other Japanese companies in the same industry. This hypothesis is examined by analyzing the historical events characterizing Japanese corporations behavior in the global market.
