Africa's top bourse weighs AIDS reporting

Article Abstract:

The Johannesburg Securities Exchange in South Africa is considering asking listed companies to include cases of AIDS and HIV among workers on their corporate reports. As the country's AIDS and HIV cases grow to the world's highest, the idea of including the well-being of a company is organic to the health of its employees.

Tackling the paradox: can attaining global research excellence be compatible with local technology development?

The article uses the Flemish microelectronics research centre (IMEC) as an example of how corporate strategic management and government industrial policy interact, and how the results are commercialized. Suggestions for maximizing the impact of research centers through policy-making are included.

Charities bill should give a little

Article Abstract:

The definition of 'charitable' purposes in the Charities Bill is based on the existing common law definition that extends charitable purposes to incorporate cultural and environmental purposes. However, the Bill also has some prohibition about what charitable bodies must not do.
