Air transport industry

Article Abstract:

Good, but not record, profits and earnings are expected to be reported by US air carriers in 1999 as airline capacity is growing and air passenger traffic increases. Most US airlines are finding that it is to their advantage to have international joint ventures with international air traffic forecast to grow over the years, but the uncertainties over prices is growing, as well. These stocks are timely in 1999, but volatile due to industry cycles.

Air transport industry

Article Abstract:

The Air Transport Industry's profits for 1996 will reach record levels, and the industry should also enjoy an excellent 1997. Increasing traffic, extensive cost cutting, and higher ticket prices are contributing to this excellent performance. The industry could achieve higher earnings in the the three- to five-year time frame, but overcapacity could result if airlines order too many new aircraft.
