An assessment of survey research in POM: from constructs to theory

Article Abstract:

An examination of survey research methodologies used as a basis for formulating field-based empirical methodologies in the study of aspects of production and operations management show an inadequacy of the survey methods used to the parameters represented by the study. The survey methodologies suffer in terms of the number of parameters included in the study, as well as the sophistication of the models used. This can be addressed by incorporating the mature survey methodologies developed in the areas of social sciences and marketing.
