Antecedents and consequences of cross-functional cooperation: a comparison of R&D, manufacturing and marketing perspectives

Article Abstract:

Survey results indicate that marketing, manufacturing and research & development professionals agree on the consequences and drivers of cross-functional cooperation during the new product development (NPD) process. Respondents from each functional area agreed that that the most direct and strongest effects on NPD performance and cross-functional cooperation arise from a company's management expectations, reward structures and evaluation criteria, in other words, internal facilitators.

Critical development activities for really new versus incremental products

Article Abstract:

Studies on really new products and incremental new products showed obvious patterns of differences in proficiency levels and relative standings of the impacts across the two types of new products. In relation to incremental products, really new products have considerably higher proficiency levels in all new product development undertakings, except for strategic planning. The findings may be used for future managerial decision-making regarding the development of really new and incremental products.
