Article Abstract:

Mayne Group experienced a steep decline in its profits after the Pan Pharmaceuticals scandal, which threatened to destroy its consumer products business. It had to withdraw its 470 products, including its entire range of brands from pharmacy shelves after the Therapeutics Goods Administration served a notice to it. Since then it been a major challenge to the company to analyze the situation and concentrate keenly on its campaigning process to instill back confidence in its customers and get back to its normal form.

Television advertising remains dominant, although observers expect Internet advertising threatens to proliferate. For instance, when Sony launched its new computer game, Medieval, advertising agency Whybin Lawrence TBWA ran ads on television programs such as "South Park," and ran online chats about it in addition to distributing demonstration discs that gave prospective users a taste of the new game.
