Beyond the Fringes

Article Abstract:

Clarion International Corporation is a small company that is now able to offer its employees an alternative to a group benefit plan. Flexible benefit plans are easy to maintain in terms of paperwork and can offer employees a self-constructed package of benefits. The old group policies often wasted money on employees who did not need their coverage or were covered under a spouse's plan. A reimbursement account that operates like a checking account allows employees to use the money in the account in several ways or withdraw it in cash if the allotted amount is not used. The widespread use of computers allows these alternate programs to be easily available to smaller companies. Employers must carefully and completely explain the system to employees.

Recruit Your Problems Away

Article Abstract:

According to one executive search firm, some companies who would like to get rid of an employee will call up their headhunter and have them find the unwanted employee a new job. Although this firm admits to this practice, many within the job placement industry find this type of arrangement unethical, and a conflict of interests. But when this type of a deal is completed successfully there are many satisfied parties - the company who gets rid of an unwanted employee, the employee who gets out of a bad situation and the company who gains a new needed employee.
