Big brother is watching, and he knows your face

Article Abstract:

Harrison Systems Integration and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization are developing a system which will identify people through facial biometrics using a video camera. The system, which is being tested at Harrison's offices, promises to be more convenient than card or fingerprint identification systems and less expensive than iris scanning systems. A voice verification system is also in development by Harrison.

Ord Minnett Ltd uses the portable document format for digital printers to provide customers with timely high-quality printouts of investment information. One crucial sale to the Commonwealth Bank processed information received from overseas, which was printed and bound in about six hours. SOS Printing (Australia), which produced the documents, predicts that the unique possibilities of digital printing will create growing demand.
