Article Abstract:

Rising interest rates have caused housing starts to lessen in 1999, and this has had an affect on the stocks of the building materials industry in the US. These stocks are not timely for the year 2000, but several issues have growth potential for the next three to five years.

Building materials industry

Article Abstract:

Stocks in the building materials industry increased in value during the bull market in technology stocks in the 1990s. Increases in construction spending, in both the private and public sectors, in the year 2000 will be the most important key for growth in this industry. Investors need to be cautious with shares in the year 2000, but several issues have potential for the the next three to five years.

Building materials industry

Article Abstract:

The prices of most building materials industry stocks tracked by Value Line held steady or declined in the Jul-Oct 1999 period. Lower prices have increased the attractiveness of building materials shares, but it would be advisable to wait for stronger signs that future interest rates will be flat before aggressively buying such shares.
