CMA the Dutch way
Article Abstract:
Managerial accounting is making its presence felt in corporations in the Netherlands. This observation is based on the fact that a total of 28 Dutch accountants participated in a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) review course in 1991 in preparation for CMA exams. Dutch accountants cite the international functionality of the CMA as a prime reason for taking the exam. The CMA review course began in the Netherlands in 1990, through the concerted efforts of the International Financial Management Association and the Vrije Universiteit. Under the supervision of Elbert de With, CMA review courses were offered for the first time in Sept 1991. Future plans for the Dutch CMA program will focus on the promotion of the designation to ensure its continued growth.
