Capacitated lot sizing with setup times

Article Abstract:

The effects of setup times on lot sizes are examined using the Capacitated Lot Sizing Problem featuring nonstationary demands, setup times, and costs. Results indicate that problems with tight binding capacity constraints are difficult to solve and the solutions often require overtime. Other results show that the algorithm solves larger problems with more accuracy than smaller problems.

Heuristics for multilevel lot-sizing with a bottleneck

Article Abstract:

Multilevel lot-sizing for single bottleneck facilities requires the use of a heuristic technique, based on Lagrangian relaxation. A number of Lagrangian relaxations, with one for each product in the product group, is included in the bound and branch technique. The plan is to devise a production schedule that agrees with the capacity that is available at an affordable cost.

Coordinating production and inventory to improve service

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers who can promise customers short lead times for delivery of orders have an advantage over their competitors. A production and inventory control model is proposed that would make sure that even low-demand items are delivered quickly to the customer.
