Causal linkages in supply chain management: an exploratory study of North American manufacturing firms

Article Abstract:

The primary causal linkages in supply chain management were studied. A conceptual framework was developed and tested on information from 215 North American manufacturing companies by applying structural equation modeling methods. The connection between sourcing decisions, manufacturing goals, customer responsiveness and manufacturing performance was analyzed. Findings agreed with the hypothesis that an integrated supply chain requires the alignment of sourcing decisions to attain the manufacturing targets that have been set in accordance with customer requirements.

Manufacturing practices and strategy integration: effects on cost efficiency, flexibility, and market-based performance

Article Abstract:

A study revealed that, an increase in bias was due to common difference in the methods, which rely on single respondents. As discussed in World Class Manufacturing literature, an increase is observed in performance by best practices, though there is an incomplete linkage between practices and performances. Cost of product and flexibility of the product are results of strategy integration on market-based performance.
