Changes in affective and continuance commitment in times of relocation

Article Abstract:

A longitudinal analysis of changes in two types of organizational commitment is made after a corporate relocation program. Individual increases in affective and continuance commitment are noted and linked to different patterns of antecedent factors. Work or non-work impacts, as well as two positive outcomes of the relocation, are shown to influence changes in affective commitment. Changes in continuance commitment are linked to only one relocation outcome, which is financial impact.

Cross-cultural research on organizational commitment: a review and application of Hofstede's value survey module

Article Abstract:

A review of published, empirical research on organizational commitment outside of the US is conducted to organize what information is available in cross-cultural commitment into a coherent and useful form. The need for an over-arching theoretical framework for assessing differences in organizational commitment levels across cultures is also stressed. Hofstede's Value Survey Module, a popular measure of cultural values, is proposed as a suitable theoretical framework.

The plurality of institutional embeddedness as a source of organizational attention differences

Article Abstract:

The plurality of institutional embeddedness as a source of organizational attention differences is examined using the entry timing of few Taiwanese personal computer firms into China. The study offers a complementarily institutional embeddedness perspective and the emphasis on institutional hurdles to efficient economic activity is generally applicable to explanations of firms heterogeneity and variations in firm network and capability.
