Lands' End says it plans to cut jobs, liquidate division and shut 3 outlets

Article Abstract:

Lands' End will liquidate the catalog division known as Willis & Geiger, trim salaried jobs by 94 and close three of its 19 outlet stores. The company's 6,000 hourly workers will not lose their jobs in the reorganization back to a centralized operation. Formerly vice chairman of merchandising and sales, David F. Dyer, now CEO, made the job cuts immediate and has begun luring certain executives back to the firm to return it to the more profitable track it used to be on.

The Gap plots panty raid on Victoria's Secret

Article Abstract:

The Gap Inc. has opened up a new store in Northbrook, Illinois that offers the same type of products that have become very popular at Victoria's Secret. These products have turned Victoria's Secret into one of the more popular retailers during the 1990's. The store is named GapBody and it sells bras, panties, nightgowns, and other intimate clothing. The expansion of GapBody would mean the start of a full-fledged market war between The Gap and Victoria's Secret.
